Baptisms at Church in Leloir

CELEBRATION OF BELIEVERS BAPTISM:

    On Sunday November 18, 2012 our Church had the privilege of baptizing 15 brothers and sisters.  These wonderful people have all accepted Christ as Savior within the past 3 years.  They are the fruit of much prayer and visitation.  The Lord in His wisdom has recently added them to our fellowship as members.

* Fun Fact:  Here in Argentina the process of qualification for Baptism is a little slower because of cultural influences.  When a person accepts Christ, they do not baptize right away because they do not want to give a person a false sense of eternal security before they show true fruits of salvation.  In this way, many more people are retained in the church and see the need to become church attenders and true disciples.  Therefore, to see these 15 people accept Christ, go through the beginning steps of discipleship and then enter into the waters of Baptism is a tremendous joy.

    As you will see in the video posted here in the blog, the majority of this round of baptisms are women.  They are a mix of young, old and middle aged and all from the direct neighborhood of the church. None live more that a 5-minute car ride from the building.  They are women who have come from abuse, negligence or even atheistic backgrounds and have found love, joy, peace and salvation in our great Savior, the Lord Jesus.  

    There were also 3 men baptized. One a young college student, the second a middle aged working man who encountered Christ when his father passed away and the third, a young grandfather who came to Christ through the loving nagging of his wife over the time of several years.  It is wonderful to see that our church is reaching people of all ages with the Gospel.

     Before the baptism, each person was given an opportunity to share their personal testimony with the church.  I was proud to see them be brave and honest as they shared their journey toward finding Christ. (James had the opportunity to teach them what a Personal Testimony is and how to go about writing their own story two weeks prior)  The church warmly welcomed all these precious people as they withdrew from the waters of baptism.  Glory to God for his marvelous acts in our presence.
